Youth Outreach Program

The has established a youth outreach program that is aimed at building character and life skills in high-risk youth in both rural and urban communities.

It will use the sport of Tug of War as a tool to draw in hard to reach youth and to teach them how to work towards achieving goals.

Downsview Park in partnership with Toronto Police Service/ For KICKS, the Tug of War Club, South East Hope Tug of War Club and Volunteers conducted a youth camp at Downsview Park at the Hangar sports complex. This day camp, soccer tournament and Tug of War Expo was successful with the youth that participated that day. This youth outreach program begun by two Police officers in 31 Division (including Jane-Finch) and now being extended to at-risk communities throughout the GTA. For KICKS was developed in 2002 to engage at-risk youth in soccer, Tug-of-War and other physically challenging activities to help channel their energies toward success in school, careers and life.
